In preparation for the 2013 Japan Open Golf Championship competition, the course was closed for six months from January 2011 to remodel one green.
The main feature in designing one green is that the average area of the greens was standardized to be around 500 square meters, and the maintenance-oriented design design was considered for rational and efficient use, with green maintenance as a priority.
When the greens were surveyed before the remodeling, both the main and sub greens were about 400 square meters, and the main green had been in operation for 10 months. Although there was no need to increase the size of the greens to 700 square meters by remodeling one green, and there was enough land available, the size of the greens was kept around 500 square meters because it was easier to manage if the greens were of different sizes, and the same amount of fertilizer and disinfectant were needed.
To withstand green speeds of 12 ft. or more, the slope was kept within 2%.
Since the 8th hole had the main and sub side by side, and the course was wide from 50 yards in front of the green to the green, the left green was eliminated and a new tee was built for the 9th hole. As a result, the 9th hole is now 582 yards from the championship tee.
